For the Goeas Brothers Football Was all in the Family

By: William Devereaux

Football is not just a game in the Goeas family. Brothers Larry and Leo grew up with a love of sports in the home and a natural talent on the field. Their father, Larry Goeas Sr. was the inspiration behind their love for the game. The two brothers took their skills to the University of Hawaii, both earning ‘Ahahui Koa Ānuenue (AKA) scholarships.

Larry Goeas was a walk-on lineman at UH, and the first of the five Goeas boys to play college football. His brother Leo chose to play for UH as well, turning down mainland offers so he could play in front of his family. As a standout college athlete, Leo fulfilled his father’s dream and was drafted to play on the biggest stage, the NFL.

Today, Larry and Leo work for a local financial planning firm using the skills they learned during their UH athletic career to be competitive but fair no matter what obstacles are in their way.   They care about their clients as much as they care about their roots and where they came from.

Providing the tools to make dreams happen is what we do at AKA. Your donations give student athletes like Leo and Larry the financial stability to plan their futures without holding back.   Please invest in the next generation of local leaders by making a tax-deductible donation to AKA today.  Help keep more members of local families playing at home
